Denim Patch

Today was full of sewing.

DSC01415

It's great to be able to get inspiration from the web. I like to frequent Make It and Love It, she has some wonderful ideas and instructions.

Well a month or so ago I happened on a post were she patched up some jeans. I have tons of jeans with holes in the knees and decided this would be a great idea to copy.

DSC01428

This is what we ended up with. Ben loves them.

Now I have 5 more pairs to patch up. I probably won't be doing anymore with the British flag though.

More fabric for yet more projects

And I haven't even finished the two aprons I started 2 months ago.

These should be easy. I just have to cut them down to size, serge around the edges, and make 6 pillow cases. These are for quiet time(such a rare time).

But I have special plans for this fabric.

DSC00698

I only wish the pink were brighter, but it will work.

Peek

One Down, Countless To Go

So I have finally finished the high chair cover.

But the sad thing is Sam doesn't like it. He prefers the old cover. This morning when I put it on he screamed at me and tried to take it off. Oh well the old one is now in the garbage.

New Projects

My husband was extremely loving this past weekend. Which I am very grateful for.

Last week I told him I needed a day off, totally away from the kids, to get things done. Well he took them to IF on Saturday, and I had the time to do what I wanted.

So this is what I accomplished:

I cut out a couple of aprons I have been meaning to make for 2 years.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then I decided that my high chair cover needed a makeover. It is only 12+ years old and I would like to just throw the cover in the wash.

So first I made the piping. 1st time and it was a piece of cake thanks to some help on the internet.

Photobucket

Then I sewed the front of the cover together. This is as far as I have gotten. I need to run to the store and pick up some thread to match.

Photobucket

Hope you enjoy! Hopefully the finished products will be posted soon.

Books

Trying to tackle my latest project has been a pain. If I had a little more time to do crafty things and my husband were around more maybe it would be done.

I am trying to organize the kids room. We got a bunk bed for Christmas, so that leaves a little more room than the twin bed and toddler bed we had in there before. And my kids have gotten hoards of toys and dress-up that really need to have a place to go.

My first buy was drawers from Walmart to put the small toys in.

The next thing I wanted to control was the books. We love books. My kids love to go to sleep reading books. This has led to one destroyed library book because it ended up under Ben as he sleep and well he doesn't well pull-ups anymore.

And so this is what I've made.

Photobucket

I got the idea out of a Family Fun magazine(I {heart} their crafty ideas). Theirs didn't involve sewing, but I thought it would probably last longer if it was sewn(especially w/ my 3 kiddos).

It wasn't that cheap either but I am happy because I made them. The brackets themselves cost $5 a piece, so $20 total. The fabric was free because I have some and my mother has a stash.
